Morgan 2.0 - The Kate Addition

It had been in the works for 37 weeks and even though you know that something amazing is going to come into your life, nothing seems to prepare you enough.  It's pretty powerful and amazing.  KC and I were both on board with finding out the sex of the baby but it had other plans.  The kiddo would not reveal "the goods".  We had 4 or 5 (I can't remember) ultrasounds and each time the legs were crossed.  This was an issue for me.  A pretty big issue as I'm a bit controlling and was really looking forward to buying some cute baby clothes.  With a second, you don't have all the build up with researching and buying the gear, the luxury of hours day dreaming about names and what they're going to look like.  Loving, laughing, running, playing, singing and disciplining Charlie was wearing me out, so there were many times I would forget I was even pregnant until the baby moved.  And move it did.  This kiddo was much more active than Charlie was.  But similarly to Charlie, this baby was transverse breech.  This would normally be a problem, as it was with Charlie, but I was already scheduled for a cesarean at 37 weeks due to complications from Charlie's birth.  Swedish Hospital, October 15th at 12:30.  I was really looking forward to this day but started to get nervous about 2 days prior.  This wasn't a little procedure, this was surgery.  The spinal didn't go well when I had Charlie so I was most worried about that.  My worries were all for not.  Everything went like clockwork and KC, Charlie and I finally got to meet Katherine Elizabeth Morgan.  She was born at 4 pounds, 6 ounces and 18 inches long.  Good lord that's small!  I can hardly believe she was that tiny as she's grown so much since.  Unlike Charlie, who had to go to the NICU for about an hour after birth due to his coloring, Kate was able to be with me the entire time.  All the nurses were amazed at her size and many nurses that weren't caring for us came in to see her as they typically didn't get to work with such small babies as most child with low birth weight are premature and need to be monitored in the NICU.  Kate was just a tiny little package.  The first thing the pediatrician on call said was "hello little mouse".

Kate just passed 3 months.  She's sweet, she's a great eater and a wonderful sleeper.  Thank goodness! She's been gaining weight like crazy and is finally on "the charts" when she sees her doctor.  KC weighed her today and she's just about 10 pounds.  She's petite but solid.  In the past couple of weeks, she's been smiling like crazy and cooing.  I have to coax it out of her a bit but with KC, it's instant.  She definitely knows who her Dada is.  Charlie loves his baby sister and alternates between "little sister", "baby sister", and "baby Kate" when talking about her or to her.  A day doesn't pass that he hasn't given her a kiss and said "ahhh I love you baby sister".  So, Morgan 2.0 has arrived.  She's the final edition, I mean addition and I'm the luckiest Mama in the world.

Hi dearest Kate. You look all polka-dotted and ready to flashdance with your pinky leggings. I cannot wait to hug and kiss you and see you smile. MaeMae
